New Orleans history is filled with powerful women, although their names do not always appear on its monuments.

 

GODDESS takes you through the French Quarter while exploring the women who shaped the city through business, faith, medicine, politics, sexuality, literature, wealth and sheer determination.

 

You'll meet familiar figures such as the Baroness de Pontalba, Henriette DeLille, Ruby Bridges and Anne Rice alongside women whose stories are rarely included on traditional history tours. Their lives were courageous, ambitious and sometimes deeply complicated, and we don't turn them into saints to make their stories easier to tell.

 

Along the way, we'll explore how race, money, freedom and social position affected the choices available to women and show you what power looked like when a woman held it.
